Numéro Art / 18
For its 18th edition, NuméroLa magazine Art dedicates its cover to Kenyan artist Michael Armitage, coinciding with his exhibition at Palazzo Grassi in Venice, undoubtedly one of the highlights of this Biennale. On this occasion, Armitage displays a rare and virtuoso pictorial intensity, without shying away from the representation of violence in the world.
Our second cover is dedicated to Stanislava Kovalcikova, winner of the 2026 Reiffers Initiatives Prize in support of emerging artists. His canvases, exhibited at the Parisian foundation, appear as unstable spaces, crossed by personal mythologies, fragments of the present and bodies in tension. Unsettling.
NuméroArt obviously revisits other great moments and artists linked to the Venice Biennale, such as Sammy Baloji, a leading figure on the contemporary scene of the Republic of Congo, who constantly questions the stratifications of colonial and modern history.
NuméroArt also met the artist Sara Flores in the Amazon rainforest, whose works are exhibited in the Peruvian Pavilion in Venice. A descendant of the Shipibo-Konibo people, the artist uses his "kené" motifs to express a language that is both spiritual and political.
The magazine also celebrates, in a new series, a majestic dialogue between Jonathan Anderson's first haute couture collection for Dior and the sculptures of Magdalene Odundo, a friend of the designer. This meeting highlights a common obsession with form, understood as physical experience.
Let's not forget our meeting with new market star Yu Nishimura, who opens the doors of his studio to the magazine, or with stars Elizabeth Peyton in New York and Tracey Emin in London, the major Parisian exhibitions of Henry Taylor, Jesse Darling, and Nan Goldin, or even an original creation by artist and photographer Camille Vivier for the magazine, among others.
