NOMAS JAPAN
This time, NOMAS Magazine traveled to the largest metropolis in the world, in the Land of the Rising Sun and the blooming cherry blossoms. Its editors analyzed the five different elements of Japanese cuisine, fell in love with the fabrics and shapes of Yohji Yamamoto, drew inspiration from the ethereal figures of haute couture star Yuma Nakazato, as well as the subversive perspective of Jun Takahashi. They related wabi-sabi with haiku. They benefited from the wisdom of architect Kengo Kuma and beloved author Yoko Ogawa. They took the train from Tokyo to Kyoto, exploring ancient temples and the slow rhythms of old Japan. They crossed the island of Shikoku on foot, found themselves in the city of Tono, and listened to ghost stories.
Above all, however, they tried to capture through their lens and senses something of the soul of Japan.
In collaboration with renowned photographers and journalists from around the world, NOMAS JAPAN embodies the poetic essence of Tanizaki, the mysterious gaze of a geisha, the majesty of snow-capped Fuji, and the kindness of its inhabitants. With different paper that subtly conveys various emotions, and an inspired new design, the new issue holds within it something of the pulse of this strange and so different country, gaining collectible value for its readers.
