We’re delighted to present our nineteenth issue, Authentikós, for Spring/Summer 2025.. With our new theme, Authentikós, we delve into the concept of authenticity in an era where digital content often leads to "authenticity fatigue." As the line between self-expression and performance blurs, and algorithms begin to shape even our most personal gestures, we ask: what truly belongs to us? Inspired by Edward Young’s enduring question—“Born Originals, how comes it to pass that we die Copies?”—this issue explores the shifting nature of identity, the influence of memory and youth, and the gaze of others in shaping the self. In a world oversaturated with images and information, we reflect on authenticity not as a fixed state, but as a fluid, daily practice of reclaiming who we are.

212 is a biannual magazine based out of Istanbul, published and distributed internationally. It contains short fiction and long-form reportage; distinctive photo essays and revealing interviews. Even though it was born in the city where east meets west (as the love-worn cliche goes), the magazine seeks to transcend the loaded dichotomies of Istanbul’s favourite metaphor, and extends its gaze far beyond the region.
